Energy and anticipation filled the air as the Miles Ahead group from San Diego arrived in Cayman. In spite of a day of traveling, the 90 volunteers were eager to find out the details of the week. The volunteers were greeted by familiar faces and friendly smiles from members of the Miles Ahead team. After settling into their rooms, the group gathered for a briefing of what adventures were in store for them.

Throughout the week, the group will be divided into teams that will focus on specific projects. These projects range from Prison Ministry, Evangelism, Sports Ministry, School Assemblies Team, Deaf Ministry, and Medical Ministry. The vision behind the Do Something World campaign is to not only leverage resources to complete service projects that will benefit the Cayman community, but also to equip ministry and community leaders so that the Do Something World campaign will continue to do similar projects in the future.

Professional skateboarder, Steve James shared, “I am looking forward to using the talent God has given me as a skateboarder as a platform to share Christ with the students. Whether it’s at a school assembly or at the Black Pearl skate park, I want to take what I am doing through the Skate Ministry in San Diego and share it with the Cayman youth pastors so that kids all over the world can come to know Christ.”

While the San Diego group arrived on Saturday, May 8, the Do Something World campaign has been underway for several months in Cayman. Cayman locals have been doing service projects ranging from helping elderly church members with landscaping to beautification projects at George Town Hospital and Francis Bodden Girls Home. In addition to the service projects, the Cayman pastors and leaders have been meeting for months to pray and strategize for the festival that will culminate the week of service.

Whether it is a service project, ministry training, or the two-day festival, the Miles Ahead group is eager to see how God will transform the people of Cayman.
