Update from Community Projects Team

Today we split our teams to cover God’s additional plans.  Some of the team stayed on site at John C Cumber School to finish the construction project, while others traveled to the Prison to help paint the cells.  We also used part of our team to work on a back drop for Beauty and the Beast for our school (yes it is our school now, we are a part of the entire campus).

When we heard that our team was covering extra territory we knew God was putting us to the test and we are his faithful servants.  The construction team plugged in their equipment, when they were done their blue “community” T-shirts were cement gray, their mask and skin covered with dust and dirt.  The mural team rolled up their sleeves and when they were done their knees and back hurt from mapping, creating grids,  and painting; their blue T-shirts were dark brown and their skin was covered with paint.  The team that went to the prison had to start from the beginning cleaning, scraping, stripping and than start the painting the floors, ceilings, walls, and bars….we wont tell you what happened to their blue ‘community” T-shirts.

We are so blessed to see how God prepared his plan and provided us with the patience to work through the projects!  We are stronger warriors for Christ because the pain was not bad, in fact the set backs helped us work harder as a team which gave us more power through Christ Jesus!

We are happy to report the construction team has completed their project of adding 3000 square feet to the school!  Go team, go!  The mural for the school play is complete!  Indeed that is a miracle since we just started yesterday and the size of the mural is 33′ x 12′!  The prison ministry is almost complete, we only need to add finishing touches, what a team!

We arrived back to our hotel at 5:15 we had 45 minutes to run to our rooms, shower and return to lobby to meet Foster our bus driver who will take us to Black Pearl for our dry run “walk through” in preparation for the Do Something Festival tomorrow.  We are tired, exhausted however everyone shows up in the lobby at exactly 6pm, refreshed and ready to go!  Foster gave us a special tour of the Island as we made our way to Black Pearl.

We are experiencing the time of our life through the magnificent works of the Holy Spirit.  We have seen our projects do full turn around to successful accomplishments, we have witnessed to strangers and each other, we are seeing small children accept Christ and adults praising and shouting for Joy in the name of Christ Jesus.  We are happy to be God’s most humble servants.  We are happy to “Do Something”!

We started the day with devotions , shared by Anissa.  God is Love 1 Corinthians 13.

Day 4: Deaf Team Update

Amazing day filled with inspiration and blessings.  Watch the video to see what has inspired me so!  I spent the morning with two Deaf Blind here on the Island.  In the afternoon I spent time visiting a Deaf girl who is 15. I was able to sit with her and talk with her about future leadership opportunities and the possibility of leading the Deaf here on the Island.  I also shared more about ASL with her mom and another hearing woman.  I think they now have a better understanding about the depth of the language.  We had a good way to end the day.  I shared my testimony about the Deaf blind woman on the beach.  And it really affected the hearing team too.  Some of them asked me to share my story again later with others.  And it gave me the opportunity to educate them more about the differences in Deaf from the  USA and those living here in Cayman and about our role here this week impacting the Deaf community.

I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.

John 14:11-13
Another beautiful day in the Cayman Islands, made even more beautiful by the opportunity to share the good news with a brand new group of students at the John Gray High School.  We arrived this morning to a group of 550 teens gathered together, patiently awaiting our arrival. All

Day 4

Brett started the day with Devotions, sharing Isaiah 61 and Jeremiah 29:12.  We were reminded to call on the Lord for strength and guidance.  We prayed for strength and guidance as we reach day four we want to encourage each other to be strong in the Lord.

We have our daily safety reminder,  zero injuries reported.

The murals in the main hall are almost complete, the butterflies, flowers and rainbows are almost done and we are adding scriptures to the drawings. During break the children were entertained by puppets and amazing hand-stands and flips.

The walls in the construction area have the cement boards in placeThe construction team worked twice as hard today, we appreciate the outstanding dedication and hard work.

The children are very attentive and alsyas share their hearts and spritit with us.  A student told one of the team …Thank you for helping to make our school so beautiful.  The butterflies are so pretty when I look at them I want to fly to heaven like an angel.

The comments and the smiles are so refreshing.  We are so blessed to work with such a wonderful group.

KIDS ROCK!

Saturday 8th – Arrived to Cayman. Somebody pinch me. I must be dreaming. How is God so mindful to allow us to do an outreach on this beautiful island?

Sunday 9th – We are enjoying the beauty of the island. We went night time swimming off the beach of the Marriot. As well as sat on the beach with my feet in the water, doing a devotional before church. Soo good. Today we went to the First Baptist Church. It is was great to have our thoughts confirmed by the pastor as he is preaching. Part of his message was about God filling up the empty vessels in the widows house with oil. The message hit a cord with many of us. It reminded us to be empty so God can fill us up. As well as to remain empty of ourselves so that God will be fully in us.

Medical Team Update

Medical team members who are serving the students, faculty and community of John A Cumber primary school in the community of West Bay did an amazing job today.  God has built this team, prepared them, broke them and used them as HIS vessels.  Tuesday, the team touched the lives of sixteen classes of students during the medical presentations and clinic.  Sounds of laughter echoed, eyes full of amazement, and smiles radiated throughout the auditorium as the children learned about how amazing Jesus has made us all.  Their little ears listened attentively to each others heart beats with the stethoscopes.  Students heard the sound of their lungs filling with air for the first time.  The amazement of blood pressures, pulse checks, pupil checks, children’s programs of healthy diet, diabetes and hypertension captivated the boys and girls.  Lessons learned during the ‘Life Choice’ talks will forever impact the futures of these children.  Tim had a ‘man to man’ talk with the boys, pointing them in the direction of holiness.  Heather, Christy, Janet, Laura, Elisa, with a guest appearance from Tanya, all taught the girls to respect themselves and set Godly standards for daily living.  Laurie worked diligently to evaluate each child, and any other person who desired a wellness screening.  Declaring how fearfully and wonderfully made we are to the youth was a perfect opportunity for sharing the great news of salvation.

Day 3: Deaf Team Update

Today has been a real eye-opening day!  God blessed us with his wisdom to be able to answer all their questions at that very moment.  Today was the workshop day.  It went longer than expected but it was very rewarding.  A lot of hearing parents of Deaf came today as well as teachers from other schools, the Deaf people’s supervisors, hearing people from several of the churches, and the Deaf themselves.  We have had a special request to do the presentation again to the social services agency.  So please be in prayer that God would open up the door for that opportunity.  After we showed the resources, and the Deaf learning more about themselves, they are hungry for God’s Word and building a Deaf Community and Ministry of their own.  They have realized that THEY can become leaders!  We will be getting together again on Thursday to talk about what the next step is and how to best use the resources.  Pray that God will protect them as they form that group and bless them with his power that they can keep going through it.   Pray that God continues to give us wisdom as we meet with them one-on-one in their homes.  We are also going to the Post Office and a Hotel tomorrow to meet some of the Deaf that haven’t come to the meetings.  You notice there is no video today.  We apologize L  We were so busy with the workshop that we forgot to have someone do a video.  More to come tomorrow.

Touched By Youth

Tiny voices of excitement emanated out of Mrs. Wallace’s classroom at East End Primary, a beautiful school way out in the east with the beach and ocean as a backdrop. It is day 2 of ministry work and the Sports Ministry Team started off the day with kindergarteners all the way up to 6th graders. As we introduced ourselves you could feel the joy that these students had. Smiles upon smiles lit up the room like a light bulb. During my introduction I had asked the kids if they liked basketball and the whole entire back room threw their hands in the air and cheered with glee. Also to a surprise when my teammate Alan introduced his sport volleyball, the whole room must have gone crazy! It is Just looking at Alan’s face you could just see how overjoyed and glad he was that there was such a huge interest for a sport that was not usually as popular as the others here in the Caymans.
